MoneyGirls (“Company”) has prepared this policy (the “Privacy Policy”) to describe our practices regarding the personal data we collect from users of our website, located at www.moneygirls.com (the “Site”), and related online services (e.g., newsletters) (together with the Site, the “Services”).

Changes to this Policy:  We will post any modifications or changes to the Privacy Policy on our Site.  We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so we encourage you to review it frequently.  The “Last Revised” legend above indicates when this Privacy Policy was last changed. If we make any material change(s) to the Privacy Policy, we will notify you via email or another manner that we believe will be reasonably likely to reach you.

2. A Note About Children.  We do not intentionally gather personal data from visitors who are under the age of 13.  If a child under 13 submits personal data to Company and we learn that the personal data is the information of a child under 13, we will attempt to delete the information as soon as possible.  If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with information without their consent, he or she should contact us using the details in Section 1 above. We will delete such information from our files as soon as reasonably possible.  

3. A Note to Users Outside of the United States.  Your personal data may be processed in the country in the United States and other countries, where laws regarding processing of personal data may be less stringent than the laws in your country.

4. Types of Data We Collect.  

(a) Information You Provide to Us.  

  • We may collect personal data from you, such as your first and last name, gender, and email address when you sign up for the Services.

  • If you provide us feedback or contact us via email, we will collect your name and email address, as well as any other content included in the email.  

  • We also collect other types of personal data that you provide to us voluntarily (such as if you volunteer to be spotlighted in one of our newsletters or sign up for our ambassador program)

  • If you contact us via email regarding the Services, we will collect other information that we request when responding to your email.

(b) Information Collected via Technology.

  • Information Collected by Our Servers.  To make our Services more useful to you, our servers (which may be hosted by a third party service provider) collect information from you, including your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address (a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet, which may vary from session to session), domain name, and/or a date/time stamp for your visit.  

  • Log Files.  Like most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files.  This information includes IP addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (“ISP”), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.  We use this information to analyze trends, administer the Services, track users’ movements around the Site, gather demographic information about our user base as a whole, and better tailor our Services to our users’ needs.  

  • How We Respond to Do Not Track Signals.  We do not currently respond to “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that might enable consumers to opt out of tracking on our Site.

(c) Information Collected from You About Others.  If you decide to invite a third party to sign up for the Services, we will collect your and the third party’s name and email address in order to email and follow up with the third party.  We rely upon you to obtain any consents from the third party required by law to allow us to access and upload the third party’s name and email address as required above.

(d) Information Collected from Others.  We may also get information about you from other public or commercially available sources.  We may receive personal data about you from companies that provide our Services by way of a co-branded or private-labeled website or companies that offer their products and/or services on our Site.  We may add this information to the information we have already collected from you via our Site in order to improve the Services we provide.

(e) Sensitive Personal Data.  We ask that you not send us any sensitive personal data, including social security numbers, information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs, health, biometrics or genetic characteristics, and/or criminal background on or through the Services.  If you send or disclose any sensitive personal data to us, you consent to our processing and use of such sensitive personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent to our processing and use of such sensitive personal data, you must not submit such user generated content to the Services.

5. Cookies and Other Technologies.

We may collect information using Cookies.  “Cookies” are small data files stored on the hard drive of your computer or mobile device by a website.  We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer or mobile device until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience through our Services.

We use two broad categories of Cookies: (1) first party Cookies, served directly by us to your computer or mobile device, which are used only by us to recognize your computer or mobile device when it revisits Services; and (2) third party Cookies, which are served by service providers on our Site, and can be used by such service providers to recognize your computer or mobile device when it visits other websites.

Pixel Tags Pages of our Site and our emails may contain pixel tags (also referred to as web beacons, web bugs, tracking pixels, java tags and clear gifs) that allow us and our service providers to track online movements of Web users and tell us whether emails have been opened or links within them have been clicked to ensure that we are sending only messages that interest our users. They can also be used to match ads to users and to collect statistics on our Site and emails (e.g. number of users who have visited a page or opened an email).

6. Use of Your Personal Data

(a) General Use.  In general, personal data you submit to us is used to provide and improve the Services and to develop future services.  We use your personal data in various ways, including as follows:

  • provide sites, blogs and newsletters and the content contained therein;

  • develop content for future sites, blogs, mobile applications, financial products and newsletters; and

  • respond to questions and comments.

(b) User Inquiries and Feedback.  We often receive inquiries and feedback from users regarding Services.  We occasionally publish such content. When we publish this content, we may identify our users using the personal data that they provide.  We will obtain the user’s consent prior to posting the user’s personal data along with the inquiry or feedback.

(c) Creation of Anonymous Data.  We may create anonymous data records from personal data by excluding information (such as your name) that makes the data personally identifiable to you.  We use this anonymous data for various purpose, including to analyze request and usage patterns so that we may enhance the content of our Services and improve Site navigation.  We may use anonymous data and aggregated and other de-identified information, and disclose anonymous data to third parties for any lawful purpose.

7. Disclosure of Your Personal Data.  We disclose your personal data as described below and as described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy.

(a) Third Party Service Providers.  We may share your personal data with third party service providers to:  provide you with the Services that we offer you through our Site; to conduct quality assurance testing; to provide technical support; and/or to provide other services.  

(b) Affiliates.  We may share some or all of your personal data with our parent company, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control for a purpose consistent with this Privacy Policy.

(c) Corporate Restructuring.  We may share some or all of your personal data in connection with or during negotiation of any merger, financing, acquisition or dissolution, transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer, divestiture, or disclosure of all or a portion of our business or assets.  In the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership, personal data may also be transferred as a business asset.  

NOTICE TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS – YOUR CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS

A California resident who has provided personal data to a business with whom he/she has established a business relationship for personal, family, or household purposes (a “California customer”) may request information about whether the business has disclosed personal information to any third parties for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes.  In general, if the business has made such a disclosure of personal data, upon receipt of a request by a California customer, the business is required to provide a list of all third parties to whom personal data was disclosed in the preceding calendar year, as well as a list of the categories of personal data that were disclosed. California customers may request further information about our compliance with this law by emailing hello@moneygirls.com.  Please note that we are required to respond to one request per California customer each year and we are not required to respond to requests made by means other than through this email address.

(d) Other Disclosures.  Regardless of any choices you make regarding your personal data (as described below), Company may disclose personal data if it believes in good faith that such disclosure is necessary (a) in connection with any legal investigation; (b) to comply with relevant laws or to respond to subpoenas or warrants served on Company; (c) to protect or defend the rights or property of Company or users of the Site or Services; or (d) to investigate or assist in preventing any violation or potential violation of the law, this Privacy Policy, or our Terms of Use agreement.

8. Third Party Websites.  Our Site may contain links to third party websites.  When you click on a link to any other website or location, you will leave our Site and go to another site and another entity may collect personal data from you.  We have no control over, do not review, and cannot be responsible for, these outside websites or their content. Please be aware that the terms of this Privacy Policy do not apply to these outside websites or content, or to any collection of your personal data after you click on links to such outside websites.  We encourage you to read the privacy policies of the other websites you visit. The links to third party websites or locations are for your convenience and do not signify our endorsement of such third parties or their products, content or websites.

9. Your Choices Regarding Your Information.  You have several choices regarding use of information on our Services:

(a) Email Communications.  We will periodically send you free newsletters and emails that directly promote the use of our Site or Services.  When you receive newsletters or promotional communications from us, you may indicate a preference to stop receiving further communications from us and you will have the opportunity to opt-out by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the email you receive or by contacting us directly (please see contact information above).  Despite your indicated email preferences, we may send you service related communications, including notices of any updates to our Terms of Use agreement or Privacy Policy.

(b) Cookies.  If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to accept Cookies from our Services for any of the purposes described above, then you can instruct your browser, by changing its settings, to stop accepting Cookies or to prompt you before accepting a Cookie from the websites you visit.  Consult your browser’s technical information. If you do not accept Cookies, however, you may not be able to use all portions of the Services or all functionality of the Services.
